Repairing the loom would obviously be a lot cheaper,but it can be a nightmare of a job.Is it just the wire thats been melted or are the connections effected too?.
It might be worth trying to source a second hand loom.It shouldn't be difficult as all the looms are the same,but you might struggle to find a breaker that is prepared to remove it for you.When it comes to disconnecting things,they are very handy with a pair of side cutters.....or a gas axe....depending on the thickness of the wires!.
I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
