The wires go into a main loom,usually encased in a black plastic cover or wrapped in insulation tape.If it's the original gearbox,then these wires should be cut from the loom,so just remove a little of the cover and wires should be there.
If it's a different gearbox then look for a connector the same as there is on the gearbox.If you find one,disconnect the old connector and push the new one on.When a gearbox/engine is removed from a car in a scrap yard they usually cut through any wires/pipes then disconnect them as it's quicker and it's not them thats got to reconnect everything!
The wires in the loom should be the same colour,and I suspect the yellow wire you have found is the correct one.Manufacturers use the same colour wire for different applications so there maybe many pink or yellow wires in the loom.
