Re: 1.5 dci or 1.9 dci engine which is best
Both I and my parents have Grand Scenic. Mine is a 1.5 and theirs are a 1.9. So I have driven both. It is not such a big difference as you might think, the 1.9 feels like it has a little bit more grunt though. The gearing is different, the 1.9 is geared higher than the 1.5 in my experience. Sixth gear has hardly ever been used in the 1.9, but I can use sixth gear in my 1.5.
Mind you, I do live in the Western parts of Norway, so roads here are mostly 50mph at max. Motorway driving in higher speeds could be different.
That said, I am happy with my 1.5. I have three kids and we often take longer trips so the car is fully loaded with luggage for five + roof box. It is fully capable even then to keep up with the traffic (the steepest hills require downshifting though). I have even towed a 14-1500 kgs trailer and that went ok (but the car was empty then though).
