Sorry my last line about the connector referred to the temperature sensor, the thermostat will be inside the coolant plumbing, cylinder head area.
Cos of the heater matrix etc. any car's cooling system can get air locks on refilling, there would be a different procedure to get rid of them for each model, no idea what this one's would be.
HOWEVER if you did have air in it most likely you could get severe overheating, which would be very noticable!
