Re: Laguna II won't start - ABS warning

Well I can finally put an end to my story...

Took it to a local Renault specialist today and they hooked it up to the diagnostics.

First logged error was "Low battery voltage", so it would appear the root of all my problems was just a dying battery (which means I didn't waste my money on a new one!).

The cause of the later starting/stalling issue turned out to be (as emile1920 suggested) a leak in the fuel line. In my case, it was between the fuel filter and the fuel pump...the plastic corrugated pipe that runs between them. Looks like it was caused by a cable tie that has been securing my engine cover since I bought the car rubbing against the pipe...presumably because i've been working on it in the dark, and in high winds, so the cover has been flapping about a bit.

The guy did a 'bush fix' on it by joining a couple of old pipes he had laying around as when he phoned the main dealer they were quoting 49 ex VAT which seems a bit steep for a 9inch plastic tube. It's all secure and not leaking for now...I just need to try and source a pipe from a scrap yard or if that fails, I'll buy a length of diesel pipe and fit it on to the connectors from the old one and secure it with some jubilee clips.

I'm so relieved that it was something first when I described it and mentioned rough idle, he said it could all be related to the dual mass flywheel so I was dreading the test results..

The handbrake error was cleared total I spent about 80 minutes with the guy and he only charged me the 40 diagnostic fee which was supposed to only cover half an hour.

So...for any Norfolk locals...I can't recommend French Connection Motor Co. in Dereham enough. Wayne is the most helpful mechanic i've ever met and seems to know Renault engines like the back of his hand. If only i'd taken it there a week ago...

Huge thanks to all who have contributed to this thread and attempted to help me through my woes...I just hope one day this thread can help someone else as a result!
