Tuning a Clio 182 Cup

Hi, I have just purchased a 182 Cup Clio and was hoping someone could help with some tuning advice.
I'm looking to replace the air filter, exhaust and remap or chip it. Who are the best and most effective manufacturers, and where should I go to for these parts? Thanks..

Hi There,
We are a tuning company down in the depths of Cornwall and are part of North Cornwall Renault Specialists.

Firstly exhaust:
We are dealers for Magnex exhausts which are high quality stainless systems made from high grade 304 stainless (not too noisy either). They come with a lifetime guarantee and have two options for the 182.. A full CAT back system (recommended if performance is what you are after) or a rear silencer (if you are more interested in looks than performance).
CAT back system is 389.99 inc VAT and free del.
Rear silencer is 229.99 inc VAT and free del.
Choice of two tailpipes, either 2x3.5" round or 2x3.5" slash cut (I prefer the slash cut)

Air filter:
We are K&N filter stockists generally regarded as the best aftermarket filter manufacturer.
There are four options:
K&N panel filter (direct replacement for standard filter in air box, small power gain, no change in induction noise) 42.05 inc VAT plus 7.50 postage.

K&N 57i induction kit (open filter with basic fitting kit and cold air feed pipe, lots of induction noise, power gain if reasonable supply of cold air is available) 103.19 inc VAT and free del

K&N 57i Generation II induction kit (open filter with heat shields to shield from hot air in engine bay, filter relocation fitting kit and cold air feed pipe) 234.19 inc VAT and free del

...Or if you are practically minded a universal enclosed filter installation can reap better power increases due to the supply of cold air, but, induction noise will be less than open type filters. It is called an Apollo filter kit and is 159.99 inc VAT and free del. Is also available with fitting bracket 11.74, stepped adaptors 11.74. Cold air feed pipe is included in kit and needs to be mounted right at the front of the car with no restriction or hot air feed (don't mount behind radiator!!!)

ECU Reflash:
To make the most of the above mods a reflash is advisable. Many companies provide this service the most well known being Superchips. You will probably have a dealer in your area that can give you a price.

If you are interested in any more mods we can supply cams, heads, throttle bodies etc etc. We are currently developing a race clio 172 with some newly developed internal mods. If you want brakes we are Tar-Ox, AP racing, mintex dealers. Suspension from Koni, Avo, KW. etc etc.

Hope this helps.

Sorry, but i have to disagree here. having buillt myself a very quick 172 (one that was ahead of a v6 255 until 110mph)on a standard fuel map, Magnex arepossibly the heaviest exhaust system out there. and doesnt offer any gains in perforamnce.

Depending on your budget...
Engine:
Manifold match 130 from me
Decent exhaust system, (orbisoud, BTB)
Sports cat or decat
Panel filter, or air filter relocated from the engine bay
A remap, NOT a generic reflash, as every engine is different, so someone like Rik Wood, or RS Tuning.

Or if your feeling resonably adventurous,
Cat Cams around 600 from me
Cable throttle conversion
Omex/Emerald ECU .

You'll be looking in the region of 205ish bhp.

Suspension:
Coilovers(Leda or H+R)

Brakes
Brembo HC discs with Ds2500, or PF97 pads

Hi Guys

Sorry i have not been on for a while..

A remap from us on the cliosport range will see excellent gains and you will feel it on the road instantly.

Even if you go with cams we can still customise a map to suit your car

Cheers

Paul
