newbie - fuel consumption question (which gauge do I rely on?)
Hi, im a newbie to this forum and im really sorry if I have posted in the wrong section.
I have a Renault Scenic 2001 (Y) 1.6 16V RT
I bought it on the 20th Dec 2007 (12 days ago) from a dealer. It had no petrol in it when I bought it, and I was assured prior to picking it up later in the day that it would be given a full service, and indeed it says in the service manual that it has.
So I stuck £50 in it and although I could have got more in, it showed a full tank. I reset the milometer and have done just general xmas house visits local runs ect (very little motorway driving).
I have done 210 miles and I have 1/8th-1/4 tank left so I am assuming probably about another 50 miles or so to go. However the digital "miles to next fill up" is stating 140 miles.
Now my question is, which gauge do I rely on? If I am to believe my analogue gauge then surely 250 miles for £50 seems unbelievably juicy.
However if I rely on the digital gauge then 350-400ish miles for £50 I guess aint that bad.
Does it look like something is horribly wrong with this vehicle, or is this standard fuel consumption?
I have posted an image showing the digital/analogue discrepency and wondered what your thoughts were.
Thanks in advance
