Re: Resetting brake piston
I will be attempting to change the brakes on my megane this week, does anyone have any advice regarding resetting the brake piston without buying the tool kit? does anyone have any ideas on how to reset it? Someone has suggested unscrewing the brake resevoir lid and using a G clamp on the piston?
Thank you to anyone who replies
The front disc caliper pistons can be retracted using the method you suggest but try to open the bleed screw to allow the fluid to escape rather than force it back through the system as ABS doesn't always take kindly to fluid travelling the wrong way. A flexi-hose barke clamp also helps.
On rear discs the procedure is different depending on model, handbrake type, etc.
What type of rear brakes do you have and is the handbrake the electronic type?
A proper rewind tool can be bought form Europarts form as little as £15-00.
