the resistor is 100 ohms and is a surface mount type which is not readily available from electronics shops so be careful when soldering anyway it would only take a quick dab of solder on both ends to fix the fault so if you are handy at soldering it should be a breeze (use a low powered iron)
Those surface mount resistors can be a right pain.
I'm surprised that people haven't melted them during the process and if they fell off being tiny they would be really hard to find.

I'm still really angry with Renault that any backlight type unit is not easily changeable at a reasonable cost. Why are we getting so carried away with style over functionality ?
Even being LCD, I believe that the unit could still be backlit by bulbs.
