If the key is still working, but only just then I would suggest you get a new battery for the key. Off the top of my head I can't remember what sort of bettery it is, it may say which type in the car's handbook.
I've only got one key too and had this problem a couple of years back. It's really annoying as the key also disables the engine immobiliser. I had a blank made up soon after that so that if I lost the main key (or somehow locked it in) I could at least get in the car, if not start the engine. A new plip key from Renault is about £140 I think
