Engine won't start in hot weather

I know it's cold over there in old Blighty but here in New Zealand where my Megane is happily domiciled it is very hot some days. Lately, my Megane (1996) has thrown a gallic hissy fit when I try to start it after it has been parked outside in the sun. It will turn over, but the engine will not fire. This is often very inconvenient and although I can swear fluently in french I cannot work out what the problem is.

I have had it run through an analyser but of course it was going then and showed no stored fault codes.

The only fix so far has been to walk home cursing and pick the car up later when it is cooler. It starts perfectly then.

Immobiliser? Wires heating up and coming apart? Dashboard computer? Garlic melting?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
