Clio brake proplem
I have 2004 16 valve 1.2 Clio. It passed the MOT test on 1/02/16.
I live on the Pennines and its fairly hilly round here. About 2 weeks ago I was going down hill on a minor road when someone pulled out from a T junction to the left not looking my way at all. I braked hard but wasn't going to stop in time and just managed to squeeze past the front of the other car on the wrong side of the road and then my car stopped.
I was doing no more than 30mph. There seemed a lot of brake pedal travel.
Since then I tried to reproduce this on quiet country roads but the brakes seem fine and solid.
Going down any of the steep hills round here in heavy snow, produces an effect like having square wheels when I brake but there was non of that. I've since looked at the road surface where this happened and after heavy rain a fair amount of gravel had been deposited and the surface was rough. I imagine this is something to with the ABS. The feeling of the pedal going down and the car not
stopping quickly was unnerving to say the least. Since then I have not had any problems.
Has anyone got any ideas?
