On the subject of Be safe, especially when I expect a tussle, I put the removed wheel on carpet, under the sill, with a suitably large lump of wood on top, so, should the car escape the axle stand, it only drops a little. On a job that took 2 days, the wheel was chained in place too. Didn't want to end up with a Reliant.
