You can check the feed and earth readings easily with a multimeter,but to check the readings from the sensor when the engines running is a bit more invloved.
To check the feed,remove the plug from the sensor and check that you have battery voltage between pin 3 of the wire connector and earth.
To check the earth,do a continuity check between pin 1 of the wire connector and the earth terminal on the battery.You should have no resistance.
Be warned though,just because the car performs better with the sensor disconnected doesn't automatically mean that it is faulty.
