On the 1.6 k7m engine there are 2 earth points 1 from battery to head which is the main earth braid and 1 from the wiring loom to a bolt just below the main earth braid this is the one if broken or corroded cause's problems with the speedo it's the earth return from the ecu ...hope this helps, if yours is not the same engine then trace the loom back from the ecu to the engine till you find the earth
cable(s) breaking out of loom to engine inspect this area carfully for breaks or loose cables.. if all ok inspect connections at ecu are not corroded making sure you disconnect the battery first.. if ok inspect connections at speedo sensor on differential... if ok then it can only be faulty wiring at instrument end ... or faulty speedo sensor... or the instrument panel itself the last 3 will cost money so a careful inspection of the other areas 1st may prevent costly diagnostics and replacement of none faulty parts
