Re: Renault Scenic - Engines - Cam Belt Change

I know what the recommendations are but I have just removed the timing belt from my 2006 Scenic II 1.6 16v. The vehicle has done 80000 and I've had it since nearly new (only a few miles on the clock). I know therefore that the belt has never been changed. The belt looks OK - no cracking splitting etc. I don't do a lot of stop-start driving which I guess reduces wear.

The one problem I have is that I can't squeeze the new timing belt over the tensioner pulley. The old belt goes back on with a bit of effort. Is this normal or have I got the wrong replacement belt? Any tricks to get the new belt to fit?
