Buying an automatic Scenic II

My first 2 cars where Renault Megane Scenics and both were bangers, a year or so of ownership both went to the scrapyard and never really planned on getting another.

Many years later I now need a car big enough to comfortably spend time in and potentially sleep in and I have a slightly bigger budget than I had back then but is the Scenic II, particularly the automatic, a sensible buy?

Obviously I'd sort out the Cambelt, waterpump etc straight away but I've read a few things about the gearbox and would I be mad to purchase one, is there anything specic to watch out for?
