That suprises me tbh Horatio, As you have said, It will get thrown out on appeal let alone in court! There fore the copper in question in a way is wasting police time.

NOTHING would make me accept points on my licence and 60 for 31 in a 30 or 75 on a motorway (if the 70mph limit was still in force of course) I would fight it all the way and complain about the officer in question.

You will also find that now more and more police cars (mainly the pursut cars) are fitted with ANPR, The police are concentrating on anti-terrorism, No licence, Tax, Insurance, MOT and serious speeders. Like my brother! He got a ticket for 87 over a mile. He deserved it!

In my experience I have tootled past marked police cars on the motorway at 75-80 without a problem.

The 10% is there as car makers only have to get the speedo 10% accurate. if your speedo says you are dead on 70mph, And the speedo is tested to be legal, HOW can a ticket stand up?

In my opinion, You would only get a ticket then if you were giving the officer a load of "mouth".
