Oil Filter for Vel Satis 3.0 dCi

Hi All;
I'm new in this forum. And I've been looking around all the web (forums, filter makers websites, car shops, etc.) for an oil filter for the Vel Satis 3.0 dCi. The only place I have found it is in Renault for near to 50 pounds.
Is there any cheaper filter I can buy for my car?

Hi Itsmi - is your filter a throw-away canister or a internal element- renault don't make their own oil filter - as far as know they are made by another french company whos name escapes me at present. If you could get the part number from Renault there is chance other filter suppliers could cross reference it. I think its worth a try

P.S. I remember now a company called "Perflux" make many filters for renault

Have a look at the links below - I think (don't quote me though) the same filter may be fitted to the 3.0 litre Dci Espace - I suggest you email them for infromation.

Hi All,

It's a great relief to hear that other VS clonk at the back. The noise has been driving me nuts for months, and my dealer can't trace it - exactly as you describe, Jameseyboy.

If it's common enough to crop up here, perhaps Renault France may know the cause?

I can't stand unexplained clonks and bangs, so I'll keep investigating. If I get to the bottom of it, I'll report back.

While I'm on, does anyone have experience of the central locking playing up on a single door? The rear n/s has taken to refusing to unlock and can only be opened by pulling the interior door handle. Once open, it will then refuse to lock for a day or two. My dealer says it needs a new "latch" at 214.80!!!. I suspect all it needs is a well-aimed squirt of WD40. Any advice on the mechanism and how to get the door cards off would be appreciated.

Otherwise, the MOT and 45k service required only routine work. The car remains a comfortable and reliable mile-eater, and a superb towcar. We did Bantry-Belfast (312 miles) a week or two back, 3-up with a 1400kg caravan on the back in under 7 relaxed hours at 29mpg. And the clonk goes away when laden.

Door cards are easy to remove.

Gently prize off the silver plastic part at the tip of the grab handle. this will revial a screw. then pull off the rest of the cover on the grab handle which will reveal another screw. These are those star drive type but an allen key does the job. Also pop off the small cap behind the door latch fot the 3rd and final screw.

After his gently pull the door card away starting at the bottom and working up the front and back edges. The lift the whole card upward to release it from the window rubbe on which it hangs. Pull the cable away from the back of the latch and disconnect the light. Job Done.

Yeah let us all know how you get on with the knocking noise, it really is annoying!!!!
