Well good luck Andy, hope you can sort something and not sell the car as they are brilliant in many ways.

Aftermarket pattern parts are a right pain to get hold of though and yep it sounds like your previous owner sold it after the welding, like it looks like my previous owner or the garage I bought it from hit the kerb at 40mph+ and wondered why it shakes, so sold it on. I'm pretty attached to the car now though so will give it this one chance, fingers crossed.

Do you have any idea where the fuse box for the Carminat CD sat nav is, in the Vel Satis? I know in the Laguna the fuse box is under the ash tray, but I want to find mine, to see if taking it out for a while then replacing, will sort my sat nav out. You haven't had the privlege of grovelling about in your own car's passenger footwell disconnecting things have you?

Fingers crossed you can source your exhaust part...

Saabguy. Try these
They do the Vel Satis for 339.99 in Stainless Steel.
I remember when my cat failed, I had to have a new exhaust as you cant just buy the cat and this company was recommended on here by..........can't remember his name but the guy who has the Avantime.
You deffo will not get an exhaust anywhere else other than Renault, I scoured the earth for one.
Fortunately the warranty company paid for mine.
Good Luck

vel satis parts?

well my Vel has just snapped a front suspension spring, taking a brand new michelin tyre with it, but the garage has had the car for over a week because they can't get the part. I wouldn't want second hand and they will be changing both sides and are having to go through Renault which seems to be where the problem is.
Anyone else had this problem and managed to find a speedy, renault parts supplier?
And no I won't be taking it into my Renault dealer!

The rarity of the Vel Satis may be the problem and I have never heard of after-market springs for the Vel but it is possible it shares its springs with another model. If you have to use an OE brand then you are probably stuck with a Renault dealer.
