just so you can all cry I like I did

the turbo failed on my 2.2dci on friday, engine ran out but I stalled it just as it the rev guage got around to the danger zone! it emptied all the oil from the sump and, well it does start and sound ok with the intercooler pipes disconnected, I think its had it

So I decided I need a car I can trust, so took my 2.0 petrol (which has a few faults) down to the garage for a trade in. She must of known she was going as she behaved like a child in the headmasters office!

and they offered me...........................

please sit down

Yep I know I nearly fell over!

a 53 reg car with 20k miles, full history etc

thats less than the 10 year old scrap deal!

no where are my matches!!!!!

Hi to all from a new member,

turbo blew on my 2002 2.0t about 8 weeks ago, main dealer wanted 2500 + vat@21% for new one plus labour @ 60 per hour + seals etc etc total estimate 5kplus

got a brand new turbo in n.i. For 770 incl vat so got back otr for around 3k, md very helpful with fitting and price on same.

Last week got stop message "oil pressure low" 100 miles from home, had car recovered to renault md, they found no electronic/electrical or sensor fault so its obviously mechanical.....
Have taken it from md for obvious reasons, here in ireland they have barely seen any vs so don't know diddly about them!

Anyone have any ideas or experience similar fault??????

I notice that the hole for the dipstick is very low down in engine bay and I wonder if it allowed oil out when car was at an angle on the transporter. Does anyone have any views please?
I had a similar fault on mine - cracked inlet manifold pressurising the crancase and blowing the dipstick out and oil all over the engine. It took the dealer a while to diagnose the fault - fortuanately the car was under extended warranty and so the 1000 ish bill didn't hurt me as much as it would have done....

Question Centre Console removal

Hi All,

Has any one had any experience of taking apart the centre console trim of a Vel Satis?

I am installing my Parrot CK3100 for use with the iPhone and need to thread the display and mic leads from the various boxes located under the rear seats.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Eternal Optimist and Madnoel
Thanks for your replies. Car is parked at my brother's house 3 kms from delivery by
transporter. I haven't insured it yet for France and don't want to drive it 16 kms to my place until I have a feel for the problem. It's interesting to have your views on inlet manifold cracks and it being a known problem, however, I don't quite understand how the inlet side can lead to crankcase pressurisation.
