I wouldn't take the under tray off if you can help it. I heard of someone who did this - it resulted in a written off engine. Freak - but - the auxillary belt can run close to the floor and there is danger debri could get in the belt and jam it/break it and worst case then wrap itself into the timing belt.
Wonder for know if there is a way you could use an expanding fixing just to hold it (like you get in DIY stores) or somehow use tywraps. Or those push in plastic automotive firtree fixings that are used for fixing trim.
Hopefully others may have some bright ideas.
I think there should be some type of caged nut to take the screw.
