Check Handbrake warning

Hi Folks

I have an 04 Scenic Dynamique 1.5 Derv

recently due to interior lights being left on for a few days the battery became discharged.. it started (eventually) with a jump start (battery is Renault supplied and 4 months old). the car is now fine battery wise, but every time i start the car i get "parking brake fault" displayed on the multi function panel, after a few second this reverts to "check parking brake".

the parking brake works as it should so i would assume this is a side effect of the jump starting and as such the fault just needs cleared... i dont want my pants pulled down by Renault for this so...

can i manually clear it in any way?

would disconnecting then reconnecting the battery help?

many thanks in advance
