Dave, just come in from having a look at mine and it appears that none of the wires are broken, but inside the connector block on the pillar and the block that pushes into it seemed a bit damp so I gave it a good spraying with WD40 so it all seems to be working fine again now but I'll only trust it's worked after about a week.
One tip, just be careful when trying to put the connector block back into the one on the pillar as by just trying to press it in just doesn't work no matter how hard you try, you'll need to use a screwdriver to push the moulding in on the pillar block while pushing the oblong swivelling connector back on, you will need to do this on both sides on the connector and you'll hear it click back into place, if you don't do this the connector block will just simply fall out, hope this helps!
