yellow warning light

Please help, a yellow light has come up on my car.
I've had probs recently with low battery and have needed 'jumping' most days to get it started.
Bought a new battery earlier today and since fitting it this yellow flashing light has come on, looks like heart moniter!. Have no immobiliser light on dashboard either. Engine sounds fine when ignition is switched into on position but it will not start.
Since having new fan belt fitted have not had use of heater, this now operates my window wipers.
Am soooo frustrated with this car.
Not too fussed about the heating would just like to be able to drive the flipping thing.
I would really appreciate some help, we rely so badly on car for work and football (partner runs 2 kids footy teams).
Please, please help me!
