Smile Re: Renault Modus - Electric Window Problems

Hello all.

I'm new to the Renault forum group and joined through researching electric window problems with Renault modus'.
Our's went after hearing a clunking noise and following that the window was completely loose and could be moved up and down just with your hands. Not too safe and rather chilly!

Thank you to all who suggested phoning Renault customer services. I thought I'd chance a phone call to see if they'd repair my drivers side window free of charge or at a discounted price as a good will gesture.

The modus we have is a 55 plate and has 76k on the clock.
The Renault customer service lady was very polite and friendly and listened in depth about our problem, but informed us our car was well beyond the warranty and said this WAS NOT a common fault!? Maybe I should have argued on that one a little more.

I decided to take the door panel off myself to see exactly what had happened.
I found a broken blue plastic clip at the bottom of the door and after following this post and other forums I worked out it had to have come from the regulator.
I unbolted this and plugged the electric supply back in, to find a fully functional working part and quickly realised all I needed to do was somehow purchase the broken blue plastic clip. I didn't get my hopes up on finding this part as various people had suggested a whole new regulator was needed.
My lovely wife who loves a bargain found an alternative clip on ebay exactly the same just white rather than blue. Which came to a grand total of 2.40 for two. God I've been whaffling on............

Anyway, to summarise, I was able to fit the new clip and the window works perfectly. Now we're just waiting for the passenger side window to fail, but I suppose I know what to expect plus I've got the other spare clip too.

Cheers guys.

Thumbs up Re: Renault Modus - Electric Window Problems

Hi new to forum the modus I have is a 1.4 petrol .I had to buy it in a hurry as one of my daughters blew up the fiesta used. I found one locally it had 28000 miles on it and was on an 06 plate and a good lady owner only the drivers seat had been used and I was really pleased.when the car was delivered as it was reversed into my drive I noticed no reversing lights luckily I had a 3 month warranty. Local garage replaced the switch 5 minute job. Two weeks later the central locking packed in.sorted again under warranty. Then two weeks ago headlight went I did as one of the forum members suggested and attacked it from the top no problem bulb out but could I get the new one in ,no. I had to ask my wife to try and she managed it quite easily. Now the window has made the cracking noise and I would like to know how you get the door cover of it without any damage. Very useful forum. I must say although I have had problems I like the car and think its a bit quirky. The girls however think its a granny car well it's also got a five star NCAP rating. Many thanks for your help so far any ideas on the door cover would be appreciated.

Re: Renault Modus - Electric Window Problems

Hi all.

I had the same problem and decided as I could still hear the motor when I pressed the buttons but got no movement (and my window kept falling in to the door!) that it was probably the clip too. I ordered a pair online for about 4 quid.

I opened up the door by unscrewing the torx screw in the door handle, the 2 at the bottom of the door panel and by removing first the plastic in the small handle/pocket in the door which revealed a screw.

I then pried up the handle, door handle and electric window and mirror control.

Then using brute force I pried off the door panel. This revealed a white polystyrene membrane which I cut through and found the dreaded blue clip sitting in the bottom of the door!

I then had to unscrew 3 bolts which hold the window mechanism to the door. this then comes out pretty easily. Then I used this video to replace the clip and reattach the wires to the motor. It's all pretty self explanatory;

I'm an 8(ish) stone woman who has never attempted anything like this before (apart from replacing a headlight in the Modus which is a whole other story!!) and it wasn't overly physical or difficult. Took me about 4 hours start to finish but it would only take me an hour if I had to do it again I imagine.

Hope this helps someone!
