I think you press the button until it beeps,to swap
the mode.
It does make a lone female driver feel safer though
when above 6 mph the doors lock and nobody
can get in.

I fail to understand why some people find this feature annoying/irritating etc

The only time I find it mildly annoying, is when I stop to pick the Mrs up from work/shopping and I forget to hit the unlock button, causing here to stand there for a few seconds longer

Totally agree with you Matt, for just the same reasons as you.

It says in my handbook to press the internal UNLOCK button for 5 seconds or until it beeps, not the lock button.

Our Lag has a two way rocker switch (one way for lock, the other for unlock) but the Clio has a one way rocker switch that just locks or unlocks in turn with each press. The procedure for enabling/disabling the auto locking is different depending on which type you have.

When I first got this feature on my previous Lag, the unexpected 'clunk' used to annoy me for a while - it had me wondering whether I'd clipped something with the car as I was driving off. But you soon get used to it, and after a while, you don't even notice it. You'll be glad you have it if some scrote ever tries one of your door handles when you're stopped in traffic.
