Exclamation rear shock replacement

I had mine replaced last week and the mechaic found something interesting whilst doing same,that....

1) the bolt used to connect the shock was approx 10mil in diametre to small
2)the angle of the shock at the bottom by the wheel was differnet than the top.....I dont think I am exolaining this well but there was a spacer at the top connection and not at the bottom.

which according to the mechanic was probavly causing excessive strain on the shock causing it to fail

He replaced the bolt and made a spacer for the bottom bracket to rlieve potential pressure on the shock.

we talked before I left and he thought it was a design fault by renault.....???? is not having a spacer on bottom connect normal and ???? is this a fix foa a problem which seems to plague scenics????

The job cost $533 NZD but I got a 80000 km/ 4 yr warranty on the shocks which was good/
