I would have thought that the price stays pretty much the same throughout the models duration,and then gets reduced towards the end of it due to the new model coming out.
I've never bought a new car,but I suspect that there is a small amount of adjustment that can happen due to either a dealer wanting to shift a particular amount of cars or a car thats been sat about for a while,or a manufacturer wanting to sell more cars or clear old stock.Obviously there is a profit margin in the sale for the dealer and the manufacturer,and this can be adjusted to suit.There was a time when big discounts could be haggled for,but I think that has changed some what in recent years.
I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
