I wouldn't recommend charging the battery whilst it's still connected.The only thing to do would be to run the engine and let the alternator charge it.The blips shouldn't need re-programming anyway even if you do disconnect the battery,although you'll have to input the radio code and set the clock.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
