Re: Renault Clio I - Engines - Cambelt change intervals
is there any way of changing the cam belt ourselves, my other half and his friend have been fixing cars for years now, and always service their own etc, anyone got any advice on how to do it ourselves.
i only bought the car today and have spent pretty much every penny buying and insuring it so cant afford the couple of 100 that the gaurages are asking for!?!?!
Hi, if your guys are confident mechanics these can be done yourselves.
I'm an amateur and have just replaced the head gasket which includes taking all the belts off that side of the engine.
There are a couple of vids (look for blown head gasket in this section) showing gasket replacement which are well worth looking at, along with a manual.
What I would advise is making sure you get the correct replacements, as I was messed about by motor factors who's parts references were vague. Renault also have a habit of using parts manufactured by different companies so "standard" parts aren't. I've had to supply engine model(D4F) as their refs said mine was a D7F 8v, type(712) specific engine casing type, measurements and even pics to complete the job. HTH chris
