Many people recommend cracking the bleed nipples open and letting the fluid escape that way when pushing pistons back.
Saves any chance of backpressure on seals that may not like it.
Probably need to bleed and maybe top up afterwards but I've found need to bleed on every pad change I've done on my Scenic. With or without cracking the bleed nipple when pushing back.
If not changing discs, you will find likely find significant power loss on brakes while the new pads bed in.
Be wary and keep decent stopping distance.
Could be a few hundred miles depending on wear pattern on old discs.
