Tyre Pressure Sensors/ESP

The other day the end of one of my tyre valves snapped when the air line snagged as I was topping up the tyre.

I when to the main dealer to see about getting a new unit fitted, but when they quoted 65 to fit it (they claimed it was 1.4 hours work? to fit a valve!) and 34 for the part, I decided to decline their offer to remove my eyes and the sockets and went to a local tyre fitter and had a standard valve fitted and the wheel rebalanced for 7

I've been to see the garage at work and they will turn off the pressure sensor system for 40. But will this effect how the ESP work?
