Thermometer fault, Scenic II

Our Scenic II has just had an ignition coil replaced by our local Renault dealer (cringe!) but as soon as we got the car back we noticed that the temperature readout on the dash (outside air temp, not engine temp) is now reading ridiculously high.

I immediately thought that the mechanics must have disturbed something when replacing the coil , however I understand that the temp sensor is on the drivers door mirror, so it's hard to see how they could have been meddling with that. On the other hand, it was definitely working OK when the car went in to the garage, so it seems an amazing coincidence if it has suddenly developed a fault when in the garage!!!

Any ideas anyone? Perhaps there is an electronic reset or something that needs to be done?
