I forgot to say I took it back & it passed ok
. To be fair they check the brakes on the rollers & the fact the rod was seized wasn't the real problem.
Maybe I wasn't clear in that the actuator arm is in two parts i.e. a rod inside a tube with a bolt to adjust the length. The rod had seized in the tube, if the tube was shortened then it stopped the brakes working. In theory (my theory anway) if you went over a speed but at speed causing the back of the van to come down hard it could push the bar in (shortening it) then making it work as if the weight was being transferred forward as happens under heavy braking, restricting the valve to reduce braking. If it is then it is a bad design if this can happen you could potentionally loose your rear brakes without being aware of it. I would have thought it would be better to be the other way.
