If the rear calipers have wires to them instead of cables, then it's the newer type. So no manual release.

Re Clutch, try pumping pedal till it's as high as possible when you feel pressure. Then push to the floor, wedge it down (bit of wood between seat & pedal) & leave it like that overnight.
See if it's better in the morning. This allows any microbubbles to rise to the master cylinder. When you release the pedal, any air collected will escape through the resevoir. Worth a try, as it costs nowt but 5 mins of your time.
