I bought a Scenic II a few weeks ago similar fault I had to read and erase codes a couple of times as seemed out of sync
auto handbrake worked fine just got parking brake fault (still go brakes off / on message) - been fine now for a week luckily already had the renault specific code reader tool. (icarsoft 907 @ 79 eBay )
