Standing Car Remove Battery or Not?

Hello All,

The current project I am working on is my 2005 Laguna Estate 2.0L 16V I got it for cheap without an MOT so Im working on getting it roadworthy again.

One of the first tasks was a new battery as the original renault one was failing to hold any charge. The new battery seems to flatten itself every 6 weeks or so, I Know this is down the the power draw from the cars ECU and natural power loss of the battery. However this is doing my new 90 battery no good so I got a solar trickle charger, but found this just held the battery up for another week at max!

The battery is once again flat, I have removed it from the car to charge again! (Remembering to turn the sidelights on to help prevent any current surges on removal and re fitting). I was wondering if i should keep the battery off the car and keep it fully charged until i need to start the engine, has this been done before by anyone? Will it cause any problems with the ECU having no power other than the window positions and radio code?
