It is perhaps the one useful purpose of undertrays.
They obscure bits that an MOT inspector may otherwise give a close look at.
IIRC, an MOT guy once told me that an A class Mercedes could not be failed on main brake pipes leaking.
Because they are all covered and inspectors aren't allowed to remove covers.
My Scenic passed last year with no battery clamp.
But cover was in place.
TBH, I just forgot to replace clamp after some investigations into the fuse box and only realised next time I had to uncover the battery.
Covers only held on one clip as well
Currently in Dancingdad's garage:
