I got around to opening up the climate control unit today and found the problem resistor but mine was marked 101, dropped a bit of solder either end of it and hurrah we have light.

Now to find a solution to the sunroof problem. Solve one and another appears, still saves me getting bored!!!!!!! (New post re sunroof, please help)
FYI: I think 101 means 10 x 10 to the power of 1 which is 100.

Update: I had ago in my lunch break: easy peasy to strip down etc. Confirmed that it is indeed a 100 Ohmn resistor using a digital multimeter. Not sure I've fixed the problem though as I cannot see the LCD back light: will have to wait until it gets dark to be sure! I'll keep you all posted.

Update 2: Now fixed: hadn't soldered it properly 1st time: car now seems to run better!!!!!
