Yes but most of the problems were with new cars in their first year of ownership so you cant put that down to poor servicing or neglect.
The Megane had a well deserved reputation for poor build and reliability in the first few years of it's launch.
People posted on Parkers for help with their ongoing problems.
They seemed to have lots of problems not confined to just engines ( Diesel & Petrol ) tho the Petrol models did not suffer quite so drastic breakdowns as the diesel, electrics, gearboxs, steering quite a few problems that were linked to the Laguna 2.
they improved the build by the Scenic II launch but still quite a few problems with them.
The mechanical reliabity has vastly improved on the latest models judging by the warranty claims made by Renault workshops.
