I'm not sure how Renault read the engine speed for the rev counter.Some manufacturers take it from the alternator,some a sensor on the flywheel,others from the distributor.
The oil temperature gauge needs a sensor in the lubrication system somewhere.

I think the best people to speak to are either AndyGDI or BexGDI.They have far more experience with 16v Clios than I do so may know the answers your looking for.
