But let's face it; if we all drove Skodas, this forum wouldn't exist... They're the most reliable brand of cars in Britain at the moment.
My mum has a '97 Felicia, and in 5 years of neglect, the only thing that's gone wrong with it was an £8.50 clutch cable.
They always seem 'cheaper' than VW equivalents though, even now; the Superb, which is just a stretched B5.5 Passat seems to have much less of a quality feel in it's interior than the VW. The dash lights up green, which doesn't help for starters, the plastics 'feel' cheaper, and the clocks just look cheap and nasty. Even the doors don't seem to close with that quality 'German Clunk'... But maybe that's just my expecting it to be inferior.
None of this would stop me owning an Octavia 4x4 with some careful tuning though; I mean, can you imagine the look on Mr. Sports Car's face when he gets overtaken by a Skoda estate?
You say that, A internet buddy of mine has a '06 Octavia VRS derv thing, after 2,000 miles the engine mount snaped and killed the cambelt.
10 months to get VAG to fix it!!!
