Thanks for your message. Renault would do nothing about it so I tried a different approach, I said the car needed servicing so I would want this at the same time. This did not reduce the steering rack cost and although the car had only done 16,600 miles I was told it would need a 36,000 mile service at a cost of approx. 430. I put the car into another garage and was told that the power steering pump had also failed. Renault quoted me 260 for just the part. On top of this we also had coil lead problems for the 4th time in the 16 months we have owned the car. The result of all this was I had all the work done with genuine renault parts paying Vat for 937. So I think we might be being ripped off. The final nail in the coffin was the alternator packed up. I will never buy another renault again and the only reason I have not sold this car is that it owes me so much money. Please don't get me wrong all cars have problems but it is how the manufacturer deals with it is why you go back. I'm sorry to say Renault has failed on all counts as far as I am concerned.
