I'm not sure when the changeover happened, but I have an 02 plater with the 140bhp engine and a colleague got a 52 plater with the 135.
I'm not sure why this downgrade occurred. It may have been reliability issues with the IDE (if mine's anything to go by, this could well be it) or it may just have been to make the 2.0T look more attractive.
That's why I put down approx figures because of the different variations, but the figures appear to be similar.
Also 0-60 times are not important really, its torque and at what revs that torque is developed that matters.
Boy racers like high revving 16v petrol engines where max torque is near 5000rpm.
Diesels love low down grunt at 2000rpm.
