Re: Laguna II handbrake cable stuck to caliper?
Water ingress in the rear footwells had caused the metal "guide pipes" for the handbrake cables to rust and disintegrate, so that was the reason why I couldn't get the new cables in. The foam insulation under the carpet were soaked in water. As far as I can tell the floor metal doesn't even have surface rust, only discoloration from rusty water! Perhaps the guide pipes has acted as some form of offer anodes?
Anyway, the local dealer quoted me £23 for new ones. Could have been much worse I guess
