Grasping the nettle (at last)

A couple of days ago, it was the first anniversary of my buying the Vaneo. It's proved to be a sound purchase, as in the last 12 months, it's covered some 17,500 miles, with only a service (set of tyres and a wheel bearing) needed.

All at a constant 45 - 60 mpg.

The looks were a bit dowdy (a bit too van - like, tbh), but whilst I've tackled that, by recolouring the awful black plastic, there was one other part that really let it down.

The rusty wings.

So I ordered a brand-new pair from Mercedes (not that cheap, but there aren't any pattern alternatives), and since they ALL rust like that, sir - secondhand wasn't an option.

And I prepped & sprayed them up (after undersealing the inside).

Fitted them on Tues/Wed (with no online instructions), and not a moment too soon, as the old wings were crumbling as they were being removed.

I've been a bit-sore afterwards, but it's taken a few years off the car - and feels like they've been added to me!

Here's the chronology in pics, hope you find it interesting. (or amusing)

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.
