Not sure on the colour from the stereo as it can vary on different cars depending on whether or not it has been altered but anyway, why don't you just disconnect them at the speaker instead of the stereo? There will only be 2 wires, positive and negative. Disconnect them both, tape them up with some insulating tape, job done.

EDIT:~ To disconnect them from the back of the stereo would mean cutting them I should imagine too as they are normally all connected to it via 1 block connection.
