I'm 99% certain that the wheelarch will compound (use the 3m product - it is by far & away, the best on the market).

You might be left with a couple of small 'stone-chip sized' spots to touch-in, but there's no point in throwing the baby out with the bathwater, you want to keep the repair areas as small as possible.

The tailgate would be a massive undertaking, as everything below the rear window would need to be painted (with the badges removed & refitted). Plus, you would need a d/a sander to try to ensure perfect sanding of the filler.

And if the sanding wasn't absolutely perfect - it would still look damaged.

If spraying metal panels, you need to use an etch primer, before using the regular primer, basecoat & lacquer. That's the only difference.
