Renault's repetition of their statement about the mechanism being fit for purpose etc seems to have become just a Pavlovian reaction to hearing the words 'Clio' and 'bonnet'.
I have not heard them say why this is happening to Clio IIs on this scale and not, for instance, to a similar proportion of Moduses. Unless it is.
Surely Renault have some view as to the Clio mechanism's merits or demerits.
I was intrigued by Vosa's response to the BBC that the case of the Vauxhall Fronteras which were recalled for bonnet problems was 'different'.
'Watchdog' is pushed for time I guess, but I would be interested to know what the difference was that made Vauxhalls subject to a recall and Renaults not.
